Let \(\varOmega\subset\mathbb C^n\) be a domain and let \(\varphi\) be plurisubharmonic on \(\varOmega\). Let \((\varphi_m)_{m=1}^\infty\) be the Demailly approximating sequence, i.e., \(\varphi_m:=\frac1{2m}\log K_{\varOmega,e^{-2m\varphi}}\), where \(K_{\varOmega,e^{-2m\varphi}}\) is the Bergman kernel for the space \[ \bigg\{f\in\mathcal O(\varOmega): \int_\varOmega|f|^2e^{-2m\varphi}<+\infty\bigg\}. \] It was an open question whether the sequence \((\varphi_m)_{m=1}^\infty\), after a modification by constants, is decreasing [\textit{Z. Błocki}, Expo. Math. 27, No. 2, 125--135 (2009; Zbl 1171.32004)]. The author presents an example of \((\varOmega,\varphi)\) (with \(\varOmega\subset\mathbb C^2\)) such that there are no constants \((C_m)_{m=1}^\infty\) for which the sequence \((\varphi_m+C_m)_{m=1}^\infty\) is decreasing.
