The paper deals with the random transport equation, \(Q_t + A Q_x = 0\), where the velocity, \(A\), is a homogeneous random variable. The authors propose a Godunov method for the mean, \(\langle Q \rangle\), based on the solution of the Riemann problem. A modified equation is given, showing the diffusivity of the method. It is asserted that the method accurately resolves the diffusion of wave fronts, even though the diffusion coefficient in the modified equation depends on the mesh sizes, not on~\(A\).
