Let \(G\) be a finite simple group of Lie type in characteristic \(p\). The prime power graph \(\Gamma(G)\) of \(G\) is defined as follows: Let \(G\) be a finite group. The set of irreducible character degrees of \(G\) is denoted by \(\text{cd}(G)\). The following conjecture is due to B. Huppert: Conjecture: Let \(G\) be a finite group and \(H\) a non-Abelian simple group. If \(\text{cd}(G)=\text{cd}(H)\), then \(G\) is isomorphic to \(H\times A\), where \(A\) is Abelian. This conjecture is verified for the groups \(L(2,q)\) and \(Sz(q^2)\) by \textit{B. Huppert}, [Ill. J. Math. 44, No. 4, 828-842 (2000; Zbl 0972.20006)]. It is also verified for the groups \(\text{PSL}(3,q)\) and \(\text{PSU}(3,q^2)\) by \textit{T. P. Wakefield}, [Commun. Algebra 37, No. 8, 2887-2906 (2009; Zbl 1185.20014)]. In the paper under review the author verifies the conjecture for the simple Ree groups \(^2F_4(q^2)\), where \(q^2\geq 8\).
