This paper considers the T-Q formulation of the magnetic field in order to approximate the magnetic quantities modelled by the eddy current equations. This formulation allows the authors to use a scalar function in the main part of the computational domain, reducing the use of vector quantities to the conducting parts. The authors propose to approximate these two quantities on nonmatching grids in order to be able to tackle problems where the conducting part can move in the global domain. The connection between the two grids is managed by using mortar techniques. Numerical experiments in two dimensions reported in the last section of the paper illustrate the results obtained with the proposed algorithm.
