The paper derives from general studies of deterministic and stochastic models for coalescence (aggregation and coagulation) in terms of mean-field theory methods. The unifying stochastic approach to nonlinear kinetic equations is presented. Conditions are provided for the existence of corresponding stochastic particle systems, in the sense of regularity of jump processes with unbounded intensity. Existence theorems are derived for the Smoluchowski coagulation equation with fragmentation, efflux and source terms, and for the Boltzmann equation with inelastic collisions.
