The focus-focus model is an integrable system \((q_1, q_2)\) on \(\mathbb{R}^4\), considered as \(T^*\mathbb{R}^2\) endowed with its canonical symplectic form \(\omega _0=d\xi _1\wedge dx_1+d\xi _2\wedge dx_2\), defined by \(q_1=x_1\xi _1+x_2\xi _2\), \(q_2=x_1\xi _2-x_2\xi _1\). The main result of the paper under review is that near a focus-focus singularity, a smooth integrable system with two degrees of freedom is symplectically equivalent to its quadratic normal form.
