    The authors investigate functional properties of the rearrangement invariant function space \(S_p(\omega)\) of measurable functions \(f\) on \( \mathbb{R}^+\) such that \(f^{*}(\infty) =0\) and \[ \| f\| _{S_p(\omega)}:= \left(\int_0^{\infty}(f^{**}(s)-f^{*}(s))^p \omega(s)\,ds\right)^{1/p} < \infty \] and its weak version \(S_{p,\infty}(\omega),\) for which \[ \| f\| _{S_{p,\infty}(\omega)}:= \sup_{t>0}\left(f^{**}(t)-f^{*}(t)\right) t \left(\int_t^{\infty} \frac{\omega(s)}{s^p}\,ds\right)^{1/p} < \infty. \] Here \(f^{*}\) is the decreasing rearrangement of \(f\) and \(f^{**}(t) = t^{-1}\int_0^t f^{*}(s)\,ds.\) They characterize the weights \(\omega\) for which the spaces are lattices and for which they are normed spaces: \(S_p(\omega)\) has the lattice property if any measurable function \(g\) which satisfies \(| g| \leq | f| \) for some \(f \in S_p(\omega)\) lies in \(S_p(\omega)\) and \(\| g\| _{S_p(\omega)} \leq c \| f\| _{S_p(\omega)}\). Necessary conditions for the spaces to be linear are also established.
