The authors work in the setting of homogeneous spaces \((X,d,\mu)\) with \(\mu(\{x\})=0\) for any \(x\in X\) and extend Figiel's decomposition method by constructing a suitable class of rearrangement and shift operators that allow to decompose singular integral operators on the homogeneous space into a series of basic building blocks that can be estimated by combinatorial means. Starting with a system which plays the role of the dyadic cubes in spaces of homogeneous type they construct martingale differences which plays the role of the Haar system in \(\mathbb R\) and then a tensoring process lead them to construct an isotropic basis in \(L^2(X\times X)\). This procedure is finally used to decompose singular integral type operators defined on \(X\). This is used to get a \(T(1)\) theorem for UMD-valued space in this setting.
