The authors present a new, general approach for the computation of the intersection theory on the moduli space \(V=V_{r, c_1,g}\) of stable bundles over a curve \(C\) of genus \(g\). The authors illustrate how, in the rank \(2\) case with \(\deg(c_1)\) odd, one can perform the computations, by replacing \(V\) with a projective bundle \(P\), essentially given by the choice of \(N\gg 0\) global sections. \(P\) turns out to be birational to a Quot scheme of subbundles of the trivial bundle \(\mathcal O_C^N\). The computation of the intersection in \(V\) is thus performed by using the corresponding objects in the Quot scheme, with the aid of the torus action (with weights) on the copies of \(\mathcal O_C\). As the fixed locus of the action can be controlled, the computation is effective and the (in this case already well known) formulas for the intersections of cycles in \(V\) can be recovered in this way.
