A Hurwitz continued fraction is a quasi-periodic simple continued fraction of the form \[ [a_0; a_1,\dots, a_n,\overline{Q_1(k),\dots, Q_p(k)}^\infty_{k=1},\text{ where }Q_1,\dots,Q_p \] are polynomials which take values \(Q_j(k)\in\mathbb{N}\) for \(k\in\mathbb{N}\), and where at least one of the \(Q_j\) is not constant. A prominent example is Euler's \(e= [2;\overline{1,2k,1}]^\infty_{k=1}\). No concrete examples are known where any \(Q_j\) has degree \(\geq 2\). Tasoev continued fractions are also quasi-periodic, but include exponentials \(a^k\) in their partial denominators. Expressions in closed form for some Tasoev continued fractions such as, for example, \([0;\overline{a^k,\dots, a^k}]^\infty_{k= 1}\), have been found only recently [\textit{B. G. Tasoev}, Math. Notes 67, No. 6, 786--791 (2000); translation from Mat. Zametki 67, No. 6, 931--937 (2000; Zbl 0989.11033); \textit{T. Komatsu}, Acta Arith. 107, 161--177 (2003; Zbl 1026.11012)] and Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 134, No. 1, 1--12 (2003; Zbl 1053.11006)]. In the paper under review the author finds some more Hurwitz and Tasoev continued fractions which can be given in closed form. Among them are \([0:\overline{u(a+ bk)- 1,1, v- 1}]^\infty_{k=1}\) and \([\overline{0; ua^k- 1,1,v- 1}]^\infty_{k=1}\). The ``closed form'' is a fraction of Laurent series in the variables \(a\), \(b\), \(u\), \(v\). A concrete example is \[ [0; \overline{2\cdot 3^k-1,1,1}]^\infty_{k=1}= {\sum^\infty_{n=0} (2^{-4n-1} 3^{-(n+1)^2}\prod^n_{\nu=1} (9^\nu- 1)^{-1})\over \sum^\infty_{n=0} ((4^{-2n} 3^{-n^2}- 4^{-2n- 1} 3^{-(n+1)^2})\prod^n_{\nu=1} (9^\nu- 1)^{-1})}. \]
