The paper deals with existence of positive entire solutions to the equation \[ -\Delta u=p(x)g(u),\quad x\in \mathbb R^n \] where \(0<p\in C^\alpha_{\text{loc}}(\mathbb R^n),\) \(\alpha\in (0,1)\) and \(\int_0^\infty t\varphi(t)\,dt<\infty\) with \(\varphi(t)=\max_{| x| =t}p(x).\) The approach is based on choosing of a suitable approximating sequence which convergence follows from the Sobolev imbedding theorem.
