The author constructed in an earlier paper [J. Algebra 181, 207-222 (1996; Zbl 0857.17026)] simple vertex operator superalgebras from finite copies of the Virasoro vertex operator algebra with central charge \(1/2\) and its irreducible module with highest weight \(1/2\), using binary codes as ``glue codes''. These algebras are called ``code vertex operator algebras'' by the author and denoted as \(M_D\). In the paper under review, the author studies the representation theory of \(M_D\) and uses the results to investigate simple operator algebras containing a set of mutually orthogonal rational conformal vectors with central charge \(1/2\) whose sum is the Virasoro element of the algebra. The author proves that such a vertex operator algebra has an elementary abelian automorphism 2-group, whose invariant subalgebra is a code vertex operator algebra. All the irreducible modules of a code vertex operator algebra are classified and the fusion rules of some of them are computed.
