In this paper, the author investigates the existence of crossing limit cycles of a class of discontinuous piecewise linear differential systems in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) defined in two zones separated by the straight line \(\Sigma=\{ (x, y)\in \mathbb{R}^2: x=0 \}\). One of the subsystems is a linear center and the other one is a linear system that has no equilibrium, neither real nor virtual. The author proves that such kind of systems can have at most one crossing limit cycle and if the limit cycle exists, it is hyperbolic and non algebraic. Moreover, the author presents a concrete example of such system with exactly one non algebraic crossing limit cycle.
