The \textsl{Nagami index}, \(Nag(X)\) of a space \(X\) is the smallest infinite cardinal \(\kappa\) such that there is a topological space \(Y\) of weight \(\kappa\) and a compact-valued upper semicontinuous map \(\phi:Y \to 2^{X}\) such that \(X=\bigcup\{\phi(y):y\in Y\}\). Using the notation \(C_{p,1}(X)=C_p(X)\) and for \(n\geq 2\), \(C_{p,n}(X)=C_p(C_{p,n-1}(X))\), what might be considered the main result of this paper is that for a space \(X\) and a subspace \(Y\) of \(C_p(X)\), \(Nag(C_p(Y))\leq \max\{Nag(X), Nag(Y)\}\). As a corollary, both the Lindelöf number \(L(C_{p,n}(Y))\) and the tightness \(t(C_{p,n}(Y))\) are bounded by \(\max\{Nag(X),Nag(Y)\}\).
