A long-standing open conjecture states that the circular unit sector \(\Pi\) with central angle \(30^\circ\) is a cover for the family of arcs (curves) of unit length in the plane [\textit{J. E. Wetzel}, Math. Mag. 76, No. 5, 349--363 (2003; Zbl 1059.52022)]. The paper establishes significant partial results towards resolving the conjecture. It is proved that \(\Pi\) contains an isometric copy of every drapeable arc of unit length. Drapeable arcs lie in the convex hull of certain convex arcs, called drapes, of length at most that of the given arc. Also described is the family of drapeable exit arcs of unit length in \(\Pi\); these are arcs that fit in \(\Pi\) but not in the interior of \(\Pi\).
