Let \(E_{\text{ Leg}} : y^2=x(x-1)(x-\lambda)\) be the Legendre curve over \(k(\lambda)\). For a projective geometrically connected smooth curve \(C\) over \(k:=\mathbb F_q\) with function field \(K\) and \(\Lambda:C\mapsto \mathbb P^1_\lambda\) a finite cover over \(k\), denote by \(E_\Lambda/K\) the pull-back of \(E_{\text{ Leg}}\). The curve \(E_\Lambda\) is called an odd twin-prime Legendre curve if \(0\) and \(1\) are inert and \(\infty\) is totally ramified for \(\Lambda\), the degree \(\deg(\Lambda)\) is odd, and \({\text{ Jac}}(C)(k)[2]\) is trivial. One of the main theorems states that if \(E_\Lambda\) is an odd twin-prime Legendre curve, then the central value \(L(1/q, E_\Lambda/K)\) is an odd rational number. In particular, \(E_{\Lambda}\) has analytic rank zero. Another part of this paper studies the analytic rank of quadratic twists of an odd twin-prime Legendre curve \(E_\Lambda\). Write \(\bar 0, \bar 1, \overline \infty\) for the unique point lying over each. Consider the quadratic twist \(E_f\) for a function \(f\in K\) regualar away from \(\overline \infty\) and \(f(\bar 0), f(\bar 1)\neq 0\). The second main theorem states that if \(\{w\in |C|; {\text{ ord}}_{w}(f) \text{ is odd.}\}\) is equal to \(\{{v, \overline \infty}\}\), the the quadratic twist \(E_f/K\) has analytic rank \(0\) or \(1\).
