Let \(K\) be an algebraic number field with ring of integers \(\mathcal O_K\), \(G\) denote the cyclic group of prime order \(p>2\), \(\Lambda = \mathcal O_K [G]\) and Cl\((\Lambda)\) the class group of locally free \(\Lambda\)-modules. Supposing that \(p\) is unramified in \(K\), it is shown that the kernel group \(D(\Lambda)\) and the Swan subgroup \(T(\Lambda)\) coincide inside Cl\((\Lambda)\). Thus any structural result on \(T(\Lambda)\) carries over to \(D(\Lambda)\), and a ``nearly'' complete description of \(D(\Lambda)\) is obtained in case \(K\) is an imaginary quadratic number field with discriminant less than \(-4\) and coprime to \(p\). In combination with the description of the set \(R(\Lambda)\) of realizable classes given by \textit{L. McCulloh} [J. Algebra 82, 102--134 (1983; Zbl 0508.12008)] results on \(R(\Lambda) \cap D(\Lambda)\) are derived.
