Continuing their previous investigations [Demonstr. Math. 39, No. 3, 539--552 (2006; Zbl 1110.41004)], the authors give estimates in terms of the moduli of smoothness of the approximation by algebraic or trigonometric polynomials with coefficients in a Banach space \(X\) of vector functions in the spaces \(C([a,b];X),\)\, \(L^p([a,b];X),\) respectively periodic functions in the spaces \(C_{2\pi}(\mathbb R;X),\, L^p(\mathbb R,X).\) They prove direct and inverse theorems and give characterizations of the approximation in terms of the order of approximation.
