This is a survey paper about ergodic theoretical results for one- dimensional maps with special emphasis on recent developments in Japan. The topics covered are: (1) Number-theoretical transformations (in particular the \(\beta\)-transformation), (2) Unimodal linear transformations, (3) Fredholm theory for the Perron-Frobenius operator and its relation to zeta-functions.
