The authors consider a multi-component system in which the failure of a component can either induce a total failure of the system or have no effect on any component. Performance of two failure rectification policies, one involving replacement of failed components by new ones and the other involving their minimal repair, are evaluated in terms of the expected cost of keeping the system operational.
