An expanded presentation is given of the proposed, by the author, generalization of quantum groups. In this connection the related exact deformations of the standard \(R\)-matrices and associated Hopf algebras are studied in detail. The paper includes: standard (in the author's sense) universal \(R\)-matrices, differential algebras and complexes, the new recursion relation for standard \(R\)-matrices and its integrability, obstructions and generalized Serre equations; the standard \(r\)-matrix for simple, untwisted and twisted Lie algebras; first order deformations including the deformations of special type and classical limits; Hopf structure; exact deformations of standard, generalized quantum groups; esoteric \(r\)-matrices, universal elliptic \(R\)- and \(r\)-matrices. As a result, a large family of ``standard'' coboundary Hopf algebras as well as the new types of coboundary bialgebras are investigated; the existence of the universal \(R\)-matrix on the algebraic quotient associated with algebraic surfaces in parameter space, which are characterized by appearance of certain ideals, is established; in this way all famililar quantum groups including twisted ones are obtained. The simple, linear recursion relation associated with the usual Yang-Baxter relation and defining uniquely the standard universal \(R\)-matrix is introduced; in case of the quantized Kac-Moody algebras of finite and affine type the classical limit is obtained. The class of first order deformations is investigated which encompasses the quantization of all Kac-Moody algebras of the above type. The description of the corresponding exact deformations as generalized twists is given. The universal \(R\)-matrix for the elliptic quantum groups associated with \(sl(n)\) is obtained. All the trigonometric and elliptic \(r\)-matrices (Belavin, Drinfeld, 1984) are rediscovered taking the classical limit of the esoteric quantum groups associated with Kac-Moody algebras; the obtained \(r\)-matrices are more general than the original ones since they are defined on the full Kac-Moody algebras forming the central extension of the loop groups.
