The author studies representations of a finite group \(G\) on the cohomology of certain hypersurfaces. Given some \(G\)-invariant hypersurface \(X^\circ = \{ f=0\}\) in a torus \(T = \text{Spec } \mathbb C[M]\) for some lattice \(M\), the object of study is the closure \(X\) of \({X^\circ}\) in the projective toric variety associated to the Newton polytope of \(f\) in \(M \otimes \mathbb Q\), where \(f\) should satisfy some non-degeneracy condition. The author defines the \textit{equivariant Hodge-Deligne polynomial} \(E_G(Z)\) for any complex variety \(Z\) with \(G\)-action. \(E_G(Z)\) reduces to the usual Hodge-Deligne polynomial if \(G\) is trivial, and generalizes also the notion of the \textit{weighted polynomial} of \textit{A. Dimca} and \textit{G. Lehrer} [Austral. Math. Soc. Lect. Ser. 9, 161--181 (1997; Zbl 0905.57022)] and \textit{equivariant \(\chi_y\)-genus} of \textit{S. Cappell, L. Maxim} and \textit{J. Shaneson} [Int. Math. Res. Not., No. 11, 2013--2037 (2009; Zbl 1177.32018)]. The polynomial satisfies the usual additivity if the subvarieties are \(G\)-invariant. Moreover, if \(Z\) is complete and has at most quotient singularities one can deduce the representations of \(G\) on the \((p,q)\)-parts of \(H(X)\). An algorithm is given to compute \(E_G(X^\circ)\) which gives inductively \(E_G(X)\) by additivity. Finally, if the polytope \(P\) is reflexive, \textit{equivariant stringy invariants} \(E_{\text{st},G}(X)\) are defined. This leads to an equivariant formulation of the mirror symmetry for CY hypersurfaces in dual Fano toric varieties as in \textit{V. Batyrev} and \textit{L. Borisov} [Invent. Math. 126, No. 1, 183--203 (1996; Zbl 0872.14035)]. This formulation is proved for mirror pairs \(X\) and \(X^\ast\), who are of dimension \(\leq 3\) and admit a \(G\)-equivariant, crepant, toric resolution.
