The authors show that the asymptotic error expansions of bilinear finite elements have the accuracy of \(O(h^3)\) for \(u \in H^3\), but also an a posteriori error estimation. In this respect the authors use an extrapolation cascadic multigrid method, which improves the accuracy of the approximation and provides an a posteriori error estimate.
