The aim of the paper, some definitions and the general framework are introduced first. Actually, the authors explain what a ``reduced system'' means and describe the reduction procedure to be used in this work. Further the dynamics of a system modeled by a three-dimensional system of coupled differential equations with a coupling linear synaptic matrix \(M\) is investigated. Different sub-cases as 2D dynamics, single real eigenvalues, complex-conjugate pairs of eigenvalues, non-normal matrices are considered. The paper ends with a discussion on singularities and comments on the reduction procedure.
