    The authors consider the nonlinear wave equations \( (\partial_t^2 - \Delta ) u = a |\partial_t u|^p + b |\nabla_x u|^p \), where \( (t,x) \in {\mathbb R} \times {\mathbb R}^n \), \(a\) and \(b\) are constants, and the initial data satisfy \( u (0,x) = u_0 (x) \in H^2_{\mathrm{rad}}({\mathbb R}^n)\), \( \partial_t u (0,x) = u_1 (x) \in H^1_{\mathrm{rad}}({\mathbb R}^n) \). They address the problem of the Glassey conjecture which is to show the global well posedness of this problem with small data up to the critical exponent \[ p_c = 1 + \frac{2}{n-1} . \] The paper deals with the special case of radial data (\( H^k_{\mathrm{rad}}({\mathbb R}^n) \) is the subspace of \(H^k({\mathbb R}^n)\) of radially symmetric functions). They show that for any \( n \geq 3\) and \( p_c < p < 1 + 2 / (n-2) \), the problem has a unique global solution if \( u_0 \) and \( u_1 \) are small enough in some homogenous Sobolev spaces. They also obtain the almost global existence when \( p = p_c \). In dimension 2, they prove the global existence for small data when \( p > 3 = p_c \). For all \(n \geq 2\), they also prove the local well posedness when \( 1 < p < p_c \) without smallness condition and with a lower bound on the lifespan going to infinity as the size of the data go to zero.
