The author compares first the dimension of the first de Rham cohomology group of a singular complex affine curve \(C\) with the topological Betti number \(b_1(C)\). Then he shows that the dimension of the first de Rham cohomology group is lower semi-continuous for the family of curves given by the fibers of a dominant morphism \(f:X\to \mathbb{C}\), \(x\) being an irreducible affine surface, which is locally a complete intersection.
