The authors study the quantum mechanical relation between fluctuations of transported charge and current correlators. They show that the relation between the counting statistics and the time ordering of correlators, which turns out that the correct time ordering differs from the conventional one. In particular, they present a model of energy independent scattering, where that difference matters. Finally, they apply the result to resolve a discrepancy concerning the third cumulant of the charge transport across a tunnel junction.
