The author employs the so-called Weitzenböck techniques on a compact Riemannian spin manifold to derive inequalities involving a real parameter which relate the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator with various curvature terms. When the curvature satisfies certain conditions, these inequalities are used to yield vanishing theorems for the Dirac operator \(D\), and lower bounds for the spectrum of \(D^2\). Contents include: introduction; curvature endomorphisms of the spinor bundle; estimates depending on the Ricci tensor; Weyl tensor dependent estimates; and estimates depending on the whole curvature tensor.
