Two subgroups of a finite group \(G\) are called permutable if \(HK= KH\) for every \(K\leq G\). It is known that if \(H\) is permutable, then \(H\) is modular (i.e., a modular element of the subgroup lattice of \(G\)). If all the subgroups of \(G\) are permutable, then \(G\) is called an Iwasawa group, and if all the subgroups of \(G\) are modular, \(G\) is called a modular group. In the paper under review, the author classifies all minimal non-Iwasawa groups as follows. \(G\) is minimal non-Iwasawa if and only if it is either a minimal non-modular \(p\)-group for a prime \(p\), or a minimal non-nilpotent group whose unique normal Sylow subgroup is modular. Some consequences of this result are also mentioned.
