Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (KP) is one of the most important equations in mathematical physics. It reads as \[ (u_t+u_{xxx}+uu_{x})_x-\sigma u_{yy}=0 \] where \(u=u(x,y,t)\), and \(\sigma\) is a constant. For the case \(\sigma=1\), this equation is named as the KP-I, which is the subject of the paper under review. The global well-posedness for the KP-I has been studied in previous works such as [\textit{C. Kenig}, Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 21, No. 6, 827--838 (2004; Zbl 1072.35162)] and [\textit{L. Molinet, J. C. Saut, N. Tzvetkov}, Math. Ann. 324, No. 2, 255--275 (2002; Zbl 1008.35060)]. However, all the previous results are obtained subject to the space of localized functions. In the present paper, the authors studied the Cauchy problem of the KP-I equation with nonlocalized functions as initial data. Indeed, they proved that the KP-I with initial data \[ u(0,x,y)=\phi(x,y)+\psi_c(x,y) \] where \(\psi_c(x-ct,y)\) is a solution of the KP-I with its all derivatives bounded, has a unique global solution.
