The authors consider a class of \(p\& q\) problems \(-\operatorname{div}(a(|\nabla u|^p)|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)+V(z)b(|u|^p)|u|^{p-2}u=f(u)\) in \(\mathbb{R}^N\), \(u\in D^{1,p}(\mathbb{R}^N)\cap D^{1,q}(\mathbb{R}^N)\), where \(N\ge 3\), \(1<p\le q<N\). At first, assumptions on the functions \(a\), \(b\), \(f\) and on the potential \(V\) are formulated. Some examples of functions \(a\) and \(b\) are given. An overview on papers where different assumptions on the potential \(V\) are made is presented and it is stated that the assumptions on \(V\) in this paper are more general. It is proved that the considered problem has a positive solution under the made assumptions. An estimate of the solution in the \(L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^N)\) norm is given.
