The authors define and study a new class of topological spaces -- strongly discrete homogeneous spaces -- by asking several open questions all along the paper. Here a Hausdorff topological space \(X\) is called \textit{strongly discrete homogeneous} if for any couple \(A,B\) of discrete subsets of it, any bijection between them can be extended to a global homeomorphism of \(X\). The authors compare this class of spaces to other definitions and classes of homogeneous spaces. In particular they show that the Cantor set, rational and irrational numbers, the \textit{Sorgenfrey line}, and the Euclidean spaces \(\mathbb R^n\) (for \(n\geq2\)) are all strongly discrete homogeneous. On the other hand, they prove that the \textit{Sorgenfrey plane} \(\mathbb S^2\) is not even discrete homogeneous, in the sense that there exist discrete subsets \(A_1, A_2\) of the same cardinality for which there is no homeomorphism of \(\mathbb S^2\) mapping \(A_1\) to \(A_2\). They also prove that the same holds true for the so-called \textit{Ritter space}, a variation of the more famous \textit{Bing space} (i.e. a Haudorff space which is countable and connected).
