Let \(G\) be a semitopological semigroup, i.e. \(G\) be a semigroup with a Hausdorff topology such that for each \(s\in G\) the mappings \(s\mapsto st\) and \(s\mapsto ts\) from \(G\) to \(G\) are continuous. \({\mathcal F}= \{T_t: C\to C:t\in G\}\) is said to be a semigroup of asymptotically nonexpansive type if for each \(x\in C\) there is a function \(r_t(x): G\to[0, +\infty]\) with \(\inf_{s\in G} \sup_{t\in G} r_{ts}(x)= 0\) such that \[ \| T_tx- T_ty\|\leq \| x-y\|+ r_t(x) \] for all \(y\) in \(C\) and \(t\) in \(G\). In the present paper, the authors prove the following theorem: Let \(C\) be a nonempty closed convex subset of a uniformly convex Banach space \(E\) with Fréchet differentiable norm, \({\mathcal F}= \{T_t: C\to C: t\in G\}\) be semitopological semigroup of asymptotically nonexpansive type mappings and \(F({\mathcal F})= \{x\in C: T_t(x)= x, t\in G\}\neq\emptyset\). Suppose \(\sup_{s\in G} \inf_{t\in G} r_{ts}(x)= 0\) for all \(x\in C\). Then the following conditions are equivalent: (a) \(\bigcap_{s\in G} \overline{\text{conv}}\{T_{ts}(x): t\in G\}\cap F({\mathcal F})\neq\emptyset\) for each \(x\in C\); (b) There is a nonexpansive retraction \(P\) of \(C\) onto \(F({\mathcal F})\) such that \(PT_t= T_tP= P\) for every \(t\in G\) and \(Px\in\overline{\text{conv}}\{T_t(x): t\in G\}\) for every \(x\in C\).
