For a given function \(\sigma(x,\xi)\) on \(\mathbb{R}^{2d}\), we define the pseudodifferential operator with symbol \(\sigma(x,\xi)\) in two ways: Kohn-Nirenberg correspondence \[ K_\sigma u=p(X,D)u(x)= {1\over(2\pi)^d} \int \int e^{-(x-y)\cdot \xi}\sigma(x, \xi)u(y) dyd\xi \] or Weyl correspondence \[ L_\sigma u=p^w (X,D)u(x)= {1\over(2\pi)^d} \int\int e^{-(x-y)\cdot\xi} \sigma \left({x+y\over 2}, \xi\right) u(y) dyd\xi. \] The paper investigates the boundedness and trace class properties of pseudodifferential operators by using time-frequency analysis. The symbol class is defined by using the modulation spaces on \(\mathbb{R}^{2d}\) the spaces quantify the notion of the time-frequency content of a function and distribution. The main results are as follows: Theorem 1.1. If the symbol \(\sigma(x,\xi)\) lies in the modulation space \(M_{\infty,1}(\mathbb{R}^d)\), then the pseudodifferential operators \(K_\sigma\) and \(L_\sigma\) are bounded on \(M_{p,p}(\mathbb{R}^d)\), \(1\leq p\leq \infty\). Theorem 1.2. If the symbol \(\sigma(x,\xi)\) belongs to the modulation space \(M^s_{2,2}(\mathbb{R}^{2d})\) with \(s\geq 0\), then the singular values \(\{s_k(L_\sigma)\}\) of the operators \(L_\sigma\) satisfy \[ s_k (L_\sigma) ={\mathcal O}(k^{- {s\over 2d}- {1\over 2}}) \] and the same estimate holds for the operator \(K_\sigma\).
