Let \(G\) be a semisimple simply connected algebraic group defined and split over the prime field \(\mathbb{F}_p\). For \(q=p^r\), let \(G(\mathbb{F}_q)\) be the finite group of \(\mathbb{F}_q\) points and let \(G_r\) be the \(r\)-th Frobenius kernel. The authors study the connection between the Ext groups for \(G\), \(G(\mathbb{F}_q)\), \(G_r\), under various conditions on the weights. Their main tool is to use as intermediary the highest weight category that was associated to a saturated set of weights by \textit{S. Donkin} [J.~Algebra 104, 310-328 (1986; Zbl 0606.20038)]. One gets several spectral sequences and many useful connections between the three types of Ext groups. The results are too technical to reproduce here.
