The authors are concerned with the study of bifurcation theory of dynamical systems that are not necessarily differentiable on a surface in the phase space. More speciffically, they consider the piecewise smooth planar system near a general corner \[ ( x',y') ^{T}=A^{j}( \lambda ) ( x,y) ^{T}+g^{j}( x,y,\lambda ) ,\quad ( x,y) \in \Omega ^{j},\quad \lambda \in \mathbb{R} , \;j=1,2,\dots,n, \] with \(\left| g^{j}\left( x,y,\lambda \right) \right| =O\left( x^{2}+y^{2}\right) \) as \(\left( x,y\right) \rightarrow 0,\) and \(A^{j}\left( \lambda \right) \) has a pair of of complex eigenvalues \(\alpha ^{j}\left( \lambda \right) \pm i\omega ^{j}\left( \lambda \right) \) and is in normal form. In this situation, the eigenvalues of each smooth subsystem do not necessarily cross through the imaginary axis. However, the discontinuity may cause the exchange of stability at the corner.
