The authors of the present paper investigate the regularity and stability of Pritchard--Salamon systems. Let \(\Sigma(S(\cdot), B,-)\) be a Pritchard--Salamon system for \((W, V)\), where \(W\) and \(V\) are Hilbert spaces. Suppose that \(U\) is a Hilbert space and \(F\in L(W, U)\) is an admissible output operator, and \(S_{BF}(\cdot)\) is the corresponding admissible perturbation \(C_0\) semigroup. The authors prove that \(S_{BF}(\cdot)\) conserves certain regularities of \(S(\cdot)\) on \(W\) and \(V\) such as norm continuity, compactness, and analyticity, respectively. Their results show that admissible input and admissible output operators for Pritchard--Salamon systems only display weak unboundedness. In particular, the authors discuss the compactness and continuity of the deference \(\Delta_{BF}(t)=S_{BF}(t)-S(t)\) for \( t>0\), and get a sufficient and necessary condition for \(\Delta_{BF}(t)\) to be compact. Moreover, they prove that if the embedding from \(W\) into \(V\) is compact, then \(\Delta _{BF}(t)\) is norm continuous for \(t>0\). As a consequence, they obtain some spectral properties of perturbation semigroups.
