The authors consider the method of interpolation at \(N\) equally spaced points on the unit circle by a linear combination of translates of a \(2\pi\)-periodic basis function \(\varphi\). Using the theory of circulant matrices, the stability and accuracy of this method for large \(N\) are investigated in the following two cases: \(\varphi(\theta)=\frac{1}{2}\Re (1-\rho e^{i\theta})^{-1}\) and \(\varphi(\theta)=-2| \sin\frac{\theta}{2}| \).
