    In this interesting article the authors investigate the question whether given a set \(X\) and a function \(T:X\rightarrow X\) there exists a compact Hausdorff topology on \(X\) which makes \(T\) continuous. They characterize such functions in terms of their orbit structure. The characterization (although surprisingly elegant) is too technical to be reproduced here. Similarly, they also describe the homeomorphisms on compact metric spaces. Resolutions are an important tool used in these investigations.
