Given the matrices \(A \in \mathbb C^{n\times m}\), \(B \in \mathbb C^{n\times l}\), \(C \in \mathbb C^{m\times l}\), and denoting by \(A^H\) the conjugate transpose of \(A\), the authors formulate the solvability characterization and the solution of the equation \(A^HXB = C\) over the reflexive or anti-reflexive matrices. In this context for the relative optimal approximation problem explicit expressions of the optimal approximate solution and the minimum norm solution are given.
