The authors consider a 3-parametric family of 3-dimensional dynamical systems that have two rest points, \(Q_1\) and \(Q_2\), with the following properties: \(Q_1\) undergoes a Hopf bifurcation; \(Q_2\) is a saddle-focus. They study so-called T-point-Hopf bifurcations that correspond to values of parameters for which 1-dimensional invariant manifolds of \(Q_1\) and \(Q_2\) coincide while the 2-dimensional manifolds are transverse. It is shown that such bifurcations give rise to various families of heteroclinic and homoclinic connections between rest points and closed orbits. Numerical results for a modified van der Pol-Duffing oscillator are presented.
