Let \({\mathcal L}(M)\) denote the free loop space consisting of all maps \(f:S^1\to M\). Chas-Sullivan studied the space \({\mathcal L}(M)\) for a smooth manifold \(M\) and they showed that the homology \(H_*({\mathcal L}(M))\) has the structure of a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra. In this paper the authors study the Chas-Sullivan string topology of an orbifold and they show that \(A_{LX}:=H_*({\mathcal L}(M\times_GEG);\mathbb Q)\) has the structure of an Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra for an orientable orbifold \(X=[M/G]\). They also study the cord diagram operad and they prove that it is equivalent to the cactus operad. Moreover, as an example, they compute the Chas-Sullivan product of lens spaces.
