The reviewed article gives answer on one question posed by \textit{M. W. Hirsch} [J. Biol. Dyn. 2, No. 2, 169--179 (2008; Zbl 1152.92026)] and deals with the question of smoothness of carrying symplex \(S\) for a discrete-time dissipative competitive dynamical system. The authors obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for \(S\) to be \(C^1\) submanifold-with-corners in the nonnegative orthant. The results are obtained in terms of inequalities between Lyapunov exponents for ergodic measures supported on the boundary of orthant.
