The authors prove that the pair correlation of the sequence of rational numbers in the unit interval with prime denominators is Poissonian, i.e. the limiting pair correlation function exists and is constant, equal to 1. The proof is based on a Fourier transform technique and the result remains true also for rational numbers having exactly two distinct prime factors.
