The authors study the stability and accuracy of a perfect matching layer (PML) in a time-dependent waveguide simulation where physical boundary conditions are important. The authors propose a simple but quite efficient method for the case when a straightforward implementation of the PML induces a large error. The authors present numerical experiments on the stability and accuracy of the PML, which support the efficiency of the proposed boundary conditions.
