The authors consider non-transitive isometric actions on the \(4\)-dimensional Minkowski spacetime \(M\), which is the simplest example of a four dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifold; in fact, any curved spacetime, in relativity theory, is locally Minkowskian, and thus \(M\) is considered to be a fundamental building block both in pure mathematics as well as in mathematical relativity. The authors' significant contribution is to give a complete list of representations of connected Lie groups which act on \(M\) isometrically and up to conjugacy within the isometry group of \(M\), and to study extensively the induced orbit of each Lie group, giving a list of classification up to orbit equivalence.
