The uniqueness problem for meromorphic functions sharing a nonzero finite value or some fixed points is studied. These results improve or generalize those given recently by some authors. Let \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\) be two non-constant meromorphic functions, and let \(a(z)\) be a small function of \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\). Then \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\) share \(a(z)\) counting multiplicities (CM) if \(f(z)-a(z)\) and \(g(z)-a(z)\) have the same zeros with the same multiplicities. Specifically, the following result is proved. { Theorem.} Let \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\) be two non-constant meromorphic functions with \(\sigma(f)< +\infty,\) whose zeros are of multiplicities at least \(k\), where \(k\) is a positive integer, and let \[ n>\max\big\{2k +1, 2(\sigma(f)-1)k-3,k +4/k +8\big\} \] be a positive integer. If \(f^nf^{(k)}\) and \(g^ng^{(k)}\) share \(z\) \text{CM}\(,\) then one of the following two conclusions holds: \((1)\) \(f^nf^{(k)}=g^ng^{(k)};\) \((2)\) \(f = c_1e^{cz^2}, g = c_2e^{cz^2}\), where \(c_1, c_2\) and \(c\) are constants such that \(4(c_1c_2)^{n+1}c^2 =-1\). A similar result is proved when \(f^nf^{(k)}\) and \(g^ng^{(k)}\) share 1 CM.
