In accordance to the topological theory of \textit{S. E. Rodabaugh} [Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2007, Article ID 43645, 71 p. (2007; Zbl 1145.54004)], this paper gives a new approach to lattice-valued bornology introducing the variety-based (lattice-valued) bornology. In particular, motivated by the notion of topological system of \textit{S. Vickers} [Topology via logic. Cambridge etc.: Cambridge University Press (1989; Zbl 0668.54001)] the authors show that the category of variety-based bornological spaces is isomorphic to a full reflective subcategory of the category of variety-based bornological systems. For related results, see, e.g., the paper of the same authors et al. [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 419, No. 1, 138--155 (2014; Zbl 1333.54019)].
