In this paper, the authors consider a one phase degenerate free boundary problem $\Delta_pu= f$ with $f$ bounded and continuous function, and $|\nabla u|^p = Q$ on the free boundary where $Q$ is a non-negative $C^{0,\alpha}$ function. By using a nonvariational approach due to de Silva, the authors prove that flat free boundaries and Lipschitz free boundaries are $C^{1,\gamma}.$
