In [Duke Math. J. 33, 465--474 (1966; Zbl 0142.21503)], \textit{M. C. McCord} constructed a polyhedron \(K(X)\) for each \(A\)-space \(X\), and showed there exists a weak homotopy equivalence \(K(X) \rightarrow X\); in particular, both spaces have identical homotopy and homology groups. The converse of this statement is also true: every polyhedron \(K\) is associated to an \(A\)-space \(X(K)\) along with a weak homotopy equivalence \(X(K) \rightarrow K\). This paper mimics this vision but now based on the notion of covering spaces. In particular, the authors show that for every \(A\)-space \(X\), there is a correspondence between the equivalence classes of covering maps of \(X\) and \(K(X)\). Similarly, every polyhedron \(K\) gives rise to a correspondence between classes of coverings of \(K\) and of \(X(K)\).
